1 April 1960 – It all started back then
Sitting at his kitchen table today's senior proprietor Günter Leonhardt decides to launch the company with a production space of just 12m². The latter is being expanded to already 45m² in 1963.
With the first injection mould for model railways, Leonhardt starts into a new dimension in 1965.
A new workshop of 335m², located in Mozartstraße 24, is being build ind 1970. At that time Leonhardt employs 9 employees. In the same year the first injection mould for high performance ceramic is being produced. The introduction of CNC – milling with 4 axial-technology is being dared in 1987.
Dr.h.c. Wolfgang Leonhardt takes over the company in 1992 and allows for her to be certified according to DIN ISO 9001, as one of the first engraving businesses in Germany, in 1996.
Since 1999 the company in Hochdorf has been involved in 5-axis simultaneous milling. Between 1998 and 2000 Leonhardt took over the company JATT with 8 employees and develops resp. produces model railways since then.
Leonhardt once again set new standards with its the market entry into the new 3D laser-technology in 2003 – back then in the area of removal without bits. The company made a noise in the world in 2005 with the project "Goldbible", which is unique in its appearance worldwide, through the use of ultrasonic processing. However this not only further strengthened the company's reputation but also led to the co-founding of OxiMaTec GmbH by Leonhardt in the same year. Leonhardt is being awarded with the "EuroMold" award in bronze in 2006.
In 2008 Leonhardt begins to use micro machining in eroding, among other forms with polishing EDM and wire-cut EDM up to 0.02 mm diameter. The seal of quality "TOP 100" acknowledges the innovative strength of the engraving business Leonhardt in 2009,
In 2010 Leonhardt looks back on 50 evocative years and that not without a certain amount of pride.
